Beach Picnic Baby Shower

Hi I'm Katrina~ Welcome to Live Beautifully! We connect on all things life, love, motherhood, careers, and overcoming obstacles, together.

What’s more special than the gift of a baby shower to your best girlfriend and sister-in-law? A baby shower AND surprising her with her mama!

My sister Katie had her beautiful daughter during 2020… and as you probably know, that means no family, virtual celebrations, distant drive-by’s, and masked hours during labor. This year she’s pregnant again with her baby boy, so we decided to go all out to celebrate both of her sweet babies. Shoutout to all the COVID moms… it’s so hard to even imagine these big life-changes without family. Hopefully we can all soak up celebrations and make up for lost time.

Katie’s mom Debbie is a nurse in New Hampshire and wasn’t able to come out in 2020, so we also surprised her by flying her in for the shower… not sure how we pulled it off, but Katie was so surprised! It may have been the cutest thing to witness.

If you watch my instagram stories, you probably know Katie by now. She’s my best girlfriend from college and we married the Scott brothers… and yes, we planned it (kiddinganother story for another day though!). She’s the down-to-earth, girl next-door with the kindest heart and is always there for you. So when throwing her shower I wanted to make it extra special with details from home and her favorite colors- jewel and earth tones with accents of marigold. It was so much fun curating the perfect day for her.

Thanks to the best team–Leila Lewis, founder of The Inspired Group and Be Inspired PR, for coordinating our beach picnic dreams to come to life and Callie Love Photography for capturing every aspect of the day so beautifully.

We teamed up with Amber Sol Collective along with Archive Rentals, to create the most idyllic set-up. We envisioned a rich color palate with lots of organic finishes–flowers, table settings, and menu.

It’s all in the details…

For me, an aesthetic is truly created by all of the small details. From the extravagant flower arrangements with pampas, to the small floral and crystal detail that was placed on each guest’s plate, everything was thought of! If you’re ever looking for someone to do florals for an event, Lovesome Blossoms did such a beautiful job.

To add an extra personal touch, I picked up some block letters from Michael’s and spray painted them gold and teal to match the theme (…well Brian spray painted them. Thanks hubby!)

MAMA’S MENU

For the food and drinks, we wanted to stick with something that would be easy for being on the sand but still delicious. We had the most dreamy charcuterie board created by Sorella Collective. The arrangement and the addition of real flowers really flowed with the entire vibe. We also had an assortment of sandwiches by the local Venice deli, Gjusta.

My sister-in-law is also from New Hampshire, so we wanted a little nod to our home state in the cookies, along with baby onesies and flowers that would pull from the live pieces. Thanks to The Cookie Meister, these were a work of art!

Last but certainly not least, what’s an event without some bubbly?! We had a little “mom-osa” bar, with fresh juices to add to your bubbles or have on its own!

Chic Games

Having little activities at a baby shower is always fun. But since we were located on a beach, I wanted to keep it simple but meaningful. So I went to Michael’s and bought little message in a bottle jars. Each guest wrote notes for both babies to open up later in life from ages 10-21. This was such a cute little detail that will continue to be special throughout their lives.

I also packed up gift bags and we played one game- a pop quiz on Katie where everyone had to answer 10 things; Who is Jack named after, how many weeks is she today, what was Emerson’s first word, etc. No poop games here… lol. Kept it clean on the beach.

Thank you to the these amazing women for making this day possible!

And lastly, mama Debbie for flying in!! Best addition for Katie’s special day!
