Colette’s Nursery

Hi I'm Katrina~ Welcome to Live Beautifully! We connect on all things life, love, motherhood, careers, and overcoming obstacles, together.

Many of you know the journey of this room… it’s been a guest room, a soon-to-be nursery, a podcast studio, a guest room again… and finally a nursery. I’m so grateful that Colette is here and we were able to finish this room for her.

When designing her nursery, I wanted it to be a place of serene calmness and relaxation. So we decided to go with a natural seaside theme. Thank you to Pottery Barn Kids for helping me bring my vision to life!

THE DETAILS

First off, the paint color— Her birthstone is Emerald green, but I wanted it to feel soft and calming, so we chose this beautiful sage color. We ended up going with Valspar Green Tea Leaves in the Pearl Finish. It’s perfect for a girl or boy’s nursery and goes nicely with blues, pinks, and natural colors and textures.

Another feature that I wanted on her walls was her name. Colette means ‘victory’ and her middle name is after mama Jane.

Nicole from Delovely Details is amazing- she’s a mom and also runs her business making custom signs, party decor, wedding hangers and branded products. I’ve been working with her for years and I highly recommend ordering from her shop! She made the most beautiful wall hanging in natural wood script.

To also play off of the natural wood, we hung these picture frames in natural wood. I filled them with vintage surf pics, but I’m sure once we have more pics of Colette, she’ll be in there instead. 🙂

FURNITURE

One of the most important pieces in a nursery is a rocking chair. Many sleepless hours will be spent in it, so it needs to be comfy. I ended up going with the Paxton Swivel Recliner in Brushed Boucle Ivory and I am in love!! It is so comfortable, it swivels and rocks, and the fabric is performance so I don’t have to worry about spills.

For the crib, I love the look of natural fluted wood, so we went with the Quinn Crib. This crib is also nice because down the line when she’s ready for a toddler bed, it has a conversion kit to make the transition super simple.

This dresser pictured is the Kendall Extra-Wide in White. The matching Quinn dresser (see below!) wasn’t available at the time, but I actually think I may order it and move this dresser into our other room.

When looking at dressers, make sure they’re wide enough so there’s space for your changing table, diapers, burp cloths, creams, and baby needs.

MORE ACCENTS + ACCESSORIES

For the rug, I wanted something super cozy and one that had lots of texture. I went with the Lennox Flatweave Rug in Ivory, size 7×10.

Above the rug is the Lili Pendant from Uniqwa, available at Pure Salt Interiors. Also from Pure Salt is this adorable rattan baby bassinet.

To continue with the natural seaside vibe, I loved the woven rattan look of the Quinn White Washed Collection. The collection items that we love are the toy chest, a storage chest that can slide under the bed, and the nursery storage bundle that we use on her changing table.

For more detail and added texture, I included some natural-colored CB2 UVA stalk in this gorgeous terracotta vase.

My favorite accents were these chic seashell pillows. I searched around and found these green ones on Amazon. We also mixed in some white ones that I found at Walmart HERE!

A couple of must-haves are the Hatch Sound Machine and Night Light. Also, the Owlet Dream Sock is my favorite item for a newborn’s sleep safety. It tracks your baby’s sleep quality, heart rate, and oxygen levels.

For Colette’s bedding, we kept it cozy and white with the Belgian Flax Linen Quilt, fitted sheet, and crib skirt.

I hope you enjoyed Colette’s Nursery tour! For more posts on mom life, check out My Newborn Must Haves and Postpartum Essentials.
